Frequently asked questions
Is my journal private?
Yes. Entries are encrypted on your device and protected by your journal password and Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode. Nothing is uploaded — there are no accounts, no cloud, no analytics, and no tracking.
How do backups work?
In the app, go to Settings → Export & Backup to create a backup file encrypted with a passphrase you choose. It can be restored on any device using that passphrase. Without the passphrase it cannot be recovered — by anyone, including us — so keep it somewhere safe.
How do I export my journal?
Settings → Export & Backup offers Markdown, plain text, and PDF. Heads up: exports are plain, readable files — they are not encrypted — so store and share them carefully.
How do notifications and reminders work?
All notifications are local — scheduled on your device, with nothing sent to a server. You can control them per note, set daily reminder times, and adjust journaling reminders in Settings. Disable them anytime in the app or in iOS Settings.
How do I restart the tutorial?
Go to Settings → Help & Tutorial → Restart tutorial. You can also view the intro again from the same section.
How do I get help or report a bug?
Email us and we'll help. When you write in, we only receive what you choose to send — the app never attaches your journal or reminder content automatically.
